James McMullan (B.1934) is an illustrator who was part of the Push Pin Studios in the early 1960s, has illustrated for just about every major magazine, has authored a number of books, and who taught at the School of Visual Arts in New York City for decades. McMullan may be known best for his vibrant watercolor illustrations that have graced Broadway show and Lincoln Center posters for decades. His watercolors are lush, rich and convey a great deal of movement with the compositions and saturation of colors. The pieces in this gallery are from a 1967 volume of Horizon magazine. McMullan did a fair number of pieces for the magazine.
