In the early 1970s, DC Comics' Lois Lane included backup stories featuring a heroine with a split personality, Rose and the Thorn. Rose Forrest's father, a policeman, was killed in the line of duty and her vigilante "alter ego" Thorn stalked the night seeking revenge from the crime syndicate responsible for his death, "The 100". The stories were well written and featured artwork by Ross Andru, Gray Morrow, Dick Giordano, Rich Buckler, and Don Heck. (I wrote an article about Rose and the Thorn in issue #64 of BACK ISSUE magazine.)
