Joe Giella

You know one of the nice side aspects of this quirky little hobby is the ability to interact with the folks who delighted us in years past. Getting to know Joe Giella has been such a pleasure. In the fall of 2005, my adorable girlfriend offered to give me a Christmas Commission. Though the effort of a Joe's office manager Kevin, we were able to get in touch with Joe Giella. I had seen his recent Alter Ego article and thought it might be nice to have him recreate something he and Gil Kane worked on when I was a child. Well one Friday night he called and said he would be happy to do the commission for me. My girlfriend says I was like a kid on a candy store talking to Joe about his career and his work on the true treasures of my childhood Green Lantern and the Flash. He agreed to do one for Amy and I pledged to have him do a second and somewhere in between I was able to pick up a third GL. But as nice as his work is Joe is nicer. I treasure the conversations we have had about raising children, the importance of education family and politics. I am so delighted to say I know a man who has brought pleasure to millions during his career.
