When I first started collecting art I thought it would be nice to get representations of my favorite characters and one of my most sought after pages was from the Bob McLeod ,Hawkman story he did for Legends of the Dc Universe. I never, ever thought I would own a Kubert depiction of Hawkman. I’m proud to say it is now framed on an upstairs wall.
For some reason despite years of looking, I never ever saw a single page from a story that was a lovely tip of the hat to the Silver Age, chock full of the characters from Gardner Fox’s great run on the book with Joe Kubert and Murphy Anderson. The pages smacked of the Silver Age, with a nice little Kubert influence by Bob, right down to those sock boots that I have to admit grew on me throughout the decades. Thank goodness Joe got rid of the pixie boots very quickly and Murphy kept the loose boots around for awhile. I’ve always wondered why Julie finally changed the boots to the more common 40’s style boot?
This year I learned why I had never been able to find a page from this story, Bob McLeod owned the entire story. Bob was kind enough to sell me the entire story and here for your reading enjoyment is the complete Hawkman story from Legends of the DC Universe!
Enjoy!
