Great piece! I always liked it and had the opportunity to buy it back in 2006, but didn't seize the moment and so it slipped. Always kicked myself a little for it, but my loss is your gain. Congratulations on a wonderful piece of art, Ross. I'm sure you've no plans on parting with it, but if you ever should, please let me know.
Great piece. I remember seeing this page in the book and being completely in awe. Congratulations!
Unless you've already got the book where it was first featured as a pin-up, remind me to bring it with me the next time I'm in your neck of the woods. I have a copy I came across years ago, but I think you would appreciate it more than me... and it would make for a great combo-framing. ;)
Beautiful (but you already knew that). The texture-detail on the pads/patches of her outfit adds a great balance to the otherwise very "white" piece... and they look great as well. ;)
Wow, you've been on a Turner-binge lately, Stefan. Congrats.
Great artwork and a wonderful story. Don't apologize for the length of it -I often find the stories connected to the pieces of art as wonderful as the artwork itself. I wish more people here on CAF would utilize the option. Congratulations on your first Turner. =)
Great piece! Congratulations, Claudia. (I'd really like to see a high-res scan to check out the details.)
Fantastic work, Frank. I'm just sorry that Marvel completely butchered this incredible piece of art with their crappy dressing. Darn shame...
I'm not generally a big fan of Silvestri (Gasp! I know -blasphemy!), but this is really sweet work. Congrats, Claudia. =)
That is some great work, Frank. The minute detail-addition of Magneto's helmet down by the ring shows incredible devotion to getting it 'just right' -and you did. Question; what did you use to ink this with?
This is a perfect example of what a master story-teller Michael was with art. The first and second panels are pretty straight-forward how to read, but then it get's a bit iffy... or rather -it might've been, had anyone else been given the task. Here it's obvious straight away -Lara's left hand sticking into the second panel guides the eye up to her head and the two parachutes, the darker side of the pyramid then leads your eye down to the male silhouette, and then up to Lara where you then are made aware of the white with the two climbing down into the pyramid. As that panel is widening and merges into the second to last panel it's very natural to progress into that, and finally there's the last panel. Really great layout. Actually, the whole issue us full of master-layouts like this. There's the double spread with the two escaping the pyramid that's also a prime example of how good Michael was with laying out panels. Congrats on a great catch.
Congratulations on a fantastic cover. It was one of the pieces I contemplated getting when I bought my Turner cover a few years ago. =)
Such a fantastic piece. Just like with Emma Frost's (classic) costume not many can pull off doing the Dark Queen without making her looking overtly slutty/sexy because of the exposure of skin to it, but this is the perfect example of someone who CAN. She's seductive and tantalizing, but she's 'in control' of the situation and not an object; YOU're doing HER bidding. The pose, the colours, the craftsmanship -all of it- top-notch. Congratulations.
That is nothing short of spectacular. I can't imagine what it looks like up close and in person. I've been sitting here, looking at it, for ages, trying to soak up the details and how he did the hatching. Gray scales and hot babes are cool, but Adam definitely should do more stuff like this. Congrats!
Soon I won't have to swoop over here to see it. It's been a while, but it'll all be worth it.
Congratulations, indeed. I know how hard it is to come by a Gary Frank commission so consider me floored by just the fact that you got one. It doesn't hurt that it came out looking great, either. Again, congratulations.
Dunno how much help it may be, but here's an/the original owner; http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=220584&GSub=34047
I THINK 3; Chris Rupp, but I'm sure about 5; Vince Hernandez, 7; Alex Konat. Both 8 and 10 are correct.
Thank you, Shelton, for an excellent transaction. Flawless piece and awesome packaging. I've tried to scan a 'better' version of it for my CAF, but it's hard. Nevertheless, here she is if you want to see - http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=574410&GSub=30463 Once again, thank you.
Me either, but that's great for you. I'm sure you'll be getting loads of offers for it.
I thought I'd said it already, but apparently not here; congratulations, Frank. This has always had your name on it. It's been a while since you got it, so I'm wondering; have you had the time to frame it yet?
That is completely and utterly awesome. The Aspen crew have always been the nicest people in the biz. Anyone who says anything else don't know what they're talking about. Congratulations - both to the piece and the wedding.
Congratulations. You even got a dedication - I didn't. *pouts*
You know what's the worst part about getting an Andy Park piece in pencil? It's that no matter how many times and how many different ways you try to scan it, the scan doesn't even come close to doing the real piece justice. ;)
*"raw form", I mean. Dunno where my head is at.
Every bit as pretty in raw pencils as I thought it would be.
This whole gallery is a trip down memory-lane, but this piece in particular brings back very fond memories. I used to have the book and cassette with this story and I vividly remember looking at all the pictures in awe. I believe I've still got the cassette somewhere among my old toys, but the book is long-gone. Great catch.
Very, very sweet work. Peter did an outstanding work on it. Congrats!
Very impressive, and it's so much better in person. You should commission Peter to colour it for you.
Can you reveal it now? :P
You should get a scan, or at least a colour-file of the published piece and upload here too... and change the description. ;)
Save a copy for me of your art book, Mr. Cho. I'll be picking it up at San Diego... because you're going, right?
Normally I'd be insanely jealous of anyone for having such a kind of art AND story to go along with it, but for some strange reason reading your story and just oogling the art I can't feel anything but excitement and delight for you. Congratulations on such an awesome piece of art, and the story that goes along with it is on par with it. I've the music David J. did for the V soundtrack. Try listening to This Vicious Cabaret while reading the chapter. It's very good and well-fitting. Don't ever let this go. It's got more history than most pieces. Once again, congratulations.
Funny thing is, though I've only seen a handful of JT sketches I could tell it was his work at once.
You don't know how lucky you are. You can't request an "... of DOOM!" drawing by Peter - he only does them when he feels like it.
Actually, Frank, if I'm not mistaken it was a center pin-up in the Danger Girl; Mod Bods one-shot, but that's a minor detail. Great piece anyway. I always liked it.
