Great page from the first issue Brother Rick! Very cool that is got a costumed Vigilante in all of the panels, The sweet motorcycle action makes me want to KICKSTART MY HEART!
Terrific storytelling and great detail! Thank you for the the description; I missed out on Scott McDaniel's Nightwing run as I had stopped collecting comics at the time. I will now seek out some reading copies of these books after seeing how nice this page is!
Congratulations on a beautifully rendered page; every panel is terrific, but that third panel is a real show-stopper; thank you for highlighting it!
I agree with everything you wrote about Nestor Redondo in your description and he is another one of those artists that many comic artists I know respect highly. One example that is burned in my memory is how happy Mike Zeck was with the Nestor Redondo inks over his pencils on the comic Solarman # 1. Mike very rarely kept any of his own artwork, but he did keep a Solarman page soley because of Nestor's lush finishes over Mike's layouts. If you've not seen it, you can check out the spalsh page from that issue in my CAF; that is currently the only example of Nestor Redondo artwork in my collection, but I am certainly looking to add something that he penciled and inked.
Congratulations again on a wonderful page!
Great use of breaking the fourth wall in the second panel and terrific shots of Opus throughout; congratulations on a fantastic Bloom County strip!
You better check your abacus buddy, I've posted a bunch more than 74 Walt Kelly pieces! (Go to the list of artists on my CAF landing page and click on Walt Kelly... I"m currently at 187 pieces posted and I've got a bunch to go! :)
As always, thank you for the kind comments; I truly believe Walt Kelly was the greatest comic strip creator of all time and I am honored to be the caretaker of a portion of his legacy!
Absolutely stunning Joe Madureira illustration, he certainly knocked this one out of the park! Congratulations on obtaining your Joe Mad grail!
Unfortunately, your expectations are too high as I only have one more AoA character design by Joe! :) I'll be posting it sometime soon!
Thankfully, we don't have to IMAGINE what this piece might have looked like as Mike did not waste his imagination!
You nailed it buddy; Mike's decision to erase the images of Shrek and Donkey were out of spite and frustration for how his tenure at Dreamworks ended. If you look at the early Shrek designs I have posted HERE, you will see Mike's version of Shrek at the time, Mike (and most art collectors) likely feel the current characters are much more appealing to the eye!
Another interesting tidbit is that the early Shrek designs I reference above were LITERALLY pulled from the Dreamworks trash dumpster once Mike left! Another animator "liberated" them and sold them to me separately! Mike Ploog KEPT the Dragon's Castle/Bridge illo because he was fond of it!
Happily, it was just his IMAGINATION!
Congratulations on another great Jon Sable page Brother Rick! This one truly is a beauty and it's always nice to see a RAG DOLL as a story element!
Thank you for the additional info; I have updated the description to reflect your keen detective work!
Brother Rick, that would be an appropriate analogy now since John 5 is currently palying with Mothly Crue; but this guitar was smashed during his days with Rob Zombie, so it was truly some SICK BUBBLEGUM!
Thank you for the kind comment! Concrete: Electica was published by Dark Horse Comics in 1993; I have an image of the cover posted with the scan of the painting posted HERE
Absolutely EPIC! Congratulations on a stunning page from this classic story!
Thank you kindly Brother Rick! Doom Patrol # 14 was a cool fusion of SOMETHING OLD with SOMETHING NEW!
Congratulations on acquiring these two epic consecutive pages! Hopefully you did not have to trade Mike a kidney for them! :)
Thank you, as always, for the great story behind this purchase! Your keen detective work on this one would do Mystery Inc. proud! Congratulations on acquiring this dramatic painting at such a bargain price!
Ominous and epic; congratulations on a stunning page!
This page is perfect proof that comic art can be truly epic without characters in costume or fight scenes! Beautiful art and great dialogue combine for a truly wonderful page! Congratulations buddy!
Given your love of both the Universal Monsters and sexy pinup art, this beauty could not have a better home! Congratulations on another spectacular Olivia for your stunning collection!
WOW! Big CONGRATULATIONS on an epic Prince Valiant Sunday! The detail is outstanding and it truly does have just about every element one could hope for (great shots of Valiant, beautiful landscape background, lots of ships, and a heated battle)!
tI can't believe I missed this beauty when you posted it! (I've now turned on the "Watch" tab on your gallery so it won't happen again!)
Ya almost made me spew soda on my keyboard with that one Brother Rick! Porky's Revenge!
Congratulations on a terrific Travest Charest page! All of the panels are terrific, but I especially like the last one with the detailed car and the moon in the background. The "End Part 2" in the car's headlight is a great touch!
WOW! Congratulations on a truly wonderful Sunday page that certanly does have the feel of one of Walt Kelly's Pogo Christmas cards! The joyous song and dance is fantastic and I also love the title panel with Porky asking "how he ever got himself into a strip like this"! Classic Walt Kelly brilliance!
Congratulations on a terrific example of Dave Gibbons artwork! This page practically tells a story by itself; the artwork is awesome, but the dialogue takes it to the next level! I love the "Hulk speak" coming from Brill!
Very happy to see this great splash page in the home where it truly belongs! Thank you for the kind words and seamless transaction!
I remember buying this comic off the spinner rack at my local 7-11 and, like yourself, I loved the storyline. Congratulations on acquiring a true gem from my personal "Golden-Age" of comic collecting!
If one page of Super-Adaptoid goodness was not enough, you doubled the fun with a second sequential page of this epic battle! Congratulations on a fantastic pair of pages!!
I always enjoyed comics with the Super-Adaptoid and this is a terrific action packed page. Congratulations on a sweet page of Mighty Marvel Magic!
I recently rediscovered my collection of T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents when organizing my comic collection; there certainly was some incredible artwork in those issues. This splash is a wonderful example and Wally Wood's lush inks make the Dynamo figure truly pop with the deep black background inks. Congratulations on a terrifric splash page!
Certainly my favorite of the Marvel: The Lost Generation covers! The classic heroes vs. heroes faceoff is great, especially when it gives JB a chance to draw The Invaders! The rarest of treats though is the inks by the incomparable Bjorn Heyn; congratulations on a terrific cover!
With Eppy Thatcher it is truly the Point of No Return!
Great action pose and I really like the shadows which give the piece a cool 3-D effect.
I am very glad this Art Adams gem made it's way into your incredible collection! I am even happier knowing your Mom is doing so much better! This card art is proof that, even in comic art, good things sometimes do come in small packages!
Congratulations on a terrific JRJR page; although I am very sorry to hear of the terrible event that led to your becomming its current caretaker, Bravo to both you and Nick for the donations to a very worthy cause; you both are wonderful folks and great ambassadors for our hobby!
Another jewel that's too cool for school! I dig it! Congratulations Brother Rick!!!
To say JB had fun creating this commission is an understatement! His love of Jack Kirby is well known and he did The King proud with this fantastic tribute to Machine Man. The background details are incredible and the way Machine Man bursts forth towards the viewer is eye-popping! Factor in that JB even added in a color version makes this a truly unique commission amongst a collection of very unique pieces! Congratulations on adding this spectacular gem to your awesome collection!
Congratulations on a terrific Joe Kubert Sgt. Rock page! The full-body of Rock is outstanding and the accompanying panels and text provide a beautifully illustrated and informative background of the character. I hope to one day obtain a Kubert Sgt. Rock example even remotely close to this one for my collection!
I love the action in this terrific page; the 4 stacked horizontal panels is a great page layout and the BWS inks are wonderful! Congratulations on assembling a 3-page sequence from this nostalgic favorite book of my youth!
I'm not sure if Jerry even knew the names of all of the Commandos! Lucky for me, he did not ask me to name them!
