This one is also only available, one of two pages from the limited to 10 signed & numbered series.
It's still one of only 2 pieces out of a limited signed/numbered to only 10 that's still for sale.
Who would be in the DC version? I'm guessing definitely Jonah Hex and Bat Lash, then, who? Scalphunter, Johnny Thunder, El Diablo. Who else?
Rags is a master. He's also becone a cherished friend who I was honored about inking his pencils a few years ago at DC. This is gorgeous and please don't every have it inked, my friend, unless it's something you and Rags want to do. I never really followed Vixen but the Micronauts was one of my favorites so seeing Princess Mari in all of her Goldenesque glory makes my fanbot heart flutter that much more faster. Correct about Sal doing 30 issues (#13-49)...I did 29 issues over him as I need a break for issue 44. He (or we) did all those covers except for #24 (by CrissCross, an inventory cover), 38-40 (Steve Uy), 46-47 (Jorge Lucas) and 48 (Shin Nagasawa). This was because that's when Marvel was sterring their cover images into iconic pose covers instead of teasers about what might be in the interior story. THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR KIND WORDS ABOUT SAL & MYSELF AND OUR PANTHER WORK! It was the greatest professional time of my career because of the brilliant material I was collaborating on and all of the conteributions my partners allowed of me beyond the inking side of things. Bob Almond
As a bronze-age Marvel fan this was geek treasure for me to work on for both the characters and the great work of my friend Geof, someone I've inked a few times and am always satidfied with the collaborative results. Bob Almond
FYI Aidan, I sent you an email...hard to keep track of who did what with all of your prolific ReLegion activity-LOL! Bob Almond
Well, this one looks awfully familar;-). I can't find it in your gallery under my name, though, Aidan....only the first 3 I did for you. This was #4 and I guess #5+#6 are down the road in your tapestry of Legion stories. Bob Almond
DAMON: "He's a Master of the Inking Arts!"
BOB ALMOND: I'm pushing to reach the Inker Supreme status
Congratulations, Michael! What a find! Bob Almond
I love how the water waves swirl around like Medusa's hair, given the image thematic visual cohesion! Pretentious Bob Almond-LOL!!
WHOA! Hey, and I know a guy who's inked Alan before! <winks> Bob Almond
Brilliant connection, Michael! Ultragirl was a character I worked on in the '90s series...good memories! And Carlos has some insane fine lines! Bob Almond
Congrats!! Mike did an outstanding job over, George! I've inked George twice I believe but Mike knocked it outta da park!!! Bob Almond
I loved Leonardi's OML Steranko tribute but this one is just as good but I'm more impressed in that, unlike Rick, Bob rarely gets to pencil let alone pencil//ink himself this way...and he knocked it out of the part! Bob Almond
Probably for one of the old Marvel Universe handbooks. Inks by Josef Rubinstein. Bob Almond
In my personal experience over many years now I have quickly come to realize that you are both exceptional, kind and honorable gentlemen and human beings (and I don't just say that because you are both my most-prolific clients-LOL!) You've got to be on my list of top 5 most-wonderful people I know or have met and the world could learn and benefit much from your compassion and example. And what are the odds that you two met and have the same interests and became fast friends? You are truly blessed with this bond. Please remember to only use your powers for good. With great power....;-) Oh, and congrats to the outstanding pick up/gift! Thanks for sharing. Bob Almond
Gah! Gorgeous work! Congrats, Michael;-) Bob Almond
The Inkwells just awarded him a Sinnott Hall of Fame award...well-deserved! Outstanding work! Bob Almond
CORRECTION: This wasn't a redesign by Rafael. Apparently Hijacker was resurrected by The Hood with help from Dormammu's dark magic in Punisher V.2 #5-9 (2009) and augmented, armed and costumed by the Hood. He battled Venom and was killed (again) by him (V. 2 #9, 2009) after this. Learn something' every day;-)
This commission and Kane/Giacoia cover image nostalgically takes me back to late 1976/early 1977 when I started buying Marvels off the spinner rack....this was my first MTiO issue picked up (interiors by Sal Buscema & Pablo Marcos). Rafael redesigned the Hijacker but you did ask for his reinterpretation. Plus the guy only appeared like 3 times until Scourge wiped him out so I doubt many would notice or care
Some very familiar clients/friends commenting with words too kind! Thanks everyone, especially to MTiO76 Guy for all the fun art I got to ink recently;-) Bob Almond
So cool to have my chum Craig join the OML roster! He and I have the same Avengers-era inspirations that led to our respective careers so seeing this was a thrill...too much fun;-) Bob Almond
Great minds think alike, K! :-) Thanks for the kind comments.
The Inkwells only discovered his talent a couple of years ago at Granite State Con when we were collecting donations. Blew us away as does this phenomenal OML image! Bob Almond
I love how you had the cover design resolved, Michael! Thanks again! Bob Almond
WOW!! I never heard of Robson but nice impression of his talent here. Bob Almond
I love the dry brushwork. Any of his work pre-Next Men is tops in my book. Nice catch and story! Congrats! Bob Almond
Wow! While I'm used to seeing Frazetta and Wrightsonesque influences in your erotic work, this one shows Michael Kaluta and P. Craig Russell. Masterful job, Tim!
Michael had me add the trunks after this scan....just a matter of him updating the file;-) Thanks!
Bombshells! is back with a vengeance! Dunn did a stellar job on this one, and I've got a new character to learn more about.
Ha! Until I read this entry I didn't even KNOW that and I just too a look behind the page of original art...And there it is;-) Wish I knew because it's really light and now it's got a rubbed, dirty look on it from being on my drawing board. I would have covered the back with tracing paper or a sheet of paper had I known to protect he drawing;-(
Very cool addition to your collection. Worthy to be inked by Royer.:-)
I would think Zanda was exiled first in CJP's story...why else would she have to resort to working in a fast food restaurant??
I will be resuming commissions in 10-14 days so please contact me if you are interested as the list will only be open for about a month and I may need to cap it at any time due to too many requests. Please email me asap at dmralmond@gmail.com
Thanks for all of your kind and supportive comments, friends, and to my ever-loyal patron and cheerleader, Damon! FYI, in July I'll be in-between projects and will be catching up on commissions that have been on hold from some very patent clients (including several for Damon);-) For a very short period I will open the gates for a limited amount of commissions, an option that has been mostly closed for the past year. Please check in with me if you are interested and want me to give a quote for an image at dmralmond@gmail.com Thanks! Bob Almond
Ah,I see that we both worked on the writers! Brilliant minds think alike-LOL! Thanks for the info, Damon.
I did remember Zanda's appearance during "Enemy of the State," but seeing as how she was reduced to working taking orders at KFC, I felt it wasn't her finest hour.:-) Incidentally -- and this is a true story -- I suggested to Hudlin that he use Princess Zanda somehow. He used to frequent the Black Panther message board -- before some malcontents turned it into a nest of vipers -- and he expressed interest in the idea. Its also why Triathlon turned up at the Panther/Storm wedding.
What! no mention of Zanda's appearance in Black panther "Enemy of the State2"?? I worked Priest to use her and had we not Hudlin might not have even thought of doing the same later
(I did type up a grin symbol in my previous message but this forum doesn't do those apparently.) Aidan, I am TRULY honored for the kind words.
"Legendary inker" WHO?!?
Yes, Kevin, it is my inks....thanks for calling out my work. This was a commission I was ecstatic about doing and not ruining as it was just a loose convention sketch when I got it and I subsequently finished it, adding in the cross-hatched bg Art's known for. Sadly, I don't merit inker credits here;-P
Don't forget the exquisite inks by Joe Sinnott;-)
Pencils by Wilson, Inks by Frank Giacoia, touch-ups by John Romita
