That's a real beauty. Truly, one of the great Spider-Man artists who is long overdue their full appreciation.
A little late here, Mike, but really sweet piece (*needs a nice frame*) and great write-up. I had the honor of meeting Tim myself once. It was a wonderful experience. And whoever you gave the Sale Batman to, I'm sure he is extremely appreciative.
Fantastic piece, paying homage to Gene's greatest of all Iron Man images. Frame this one in gold, chum.
Half my den consists of Joker & Harley. This, without a doubt, would of been my centerpiece. Truly, a Timm masterpiece. Just wow.
And worth every penny. Bruce Timm's stamp on the Hulk, especially this one, is magnificent.
Wow, I often dream about owning a piece like this. And the size of it. Just fantastic Bruce Timm fare. HUGE congratulations.
This is beyond incredible. It boggles my mind as to why no one commented on this awesome cel and signature. I, for one, am jealous. Thanks for sharing such a spectacular prize.
AWESOME Sal Buscema Spidey cover that I remember very well.
Somehow, seeing Spider-Man chained & helpless on the cover
of his own book, makes the reader all the more inquisitive to buy
this book and find out which one of the web-slinger's foes could possibly overcome the spectacular one.
Just a really cool & unque classic cover. CONGRATS ON GREATNESS, my blessed friend.
Doom is losing patience with past endless triflings
with the rabble. Granted, at first, Doom had found small
amusement in his past dealings with the peasants of Latveria.
However, Michael Kenyon, This clodish display of Doom's
lesser accolades need be put aside for Doom's greater schemes.
Doom's celebrated patience is near at an end, Kenyon. Continue to pursue my wrath, do so at your own peril.
"SILENCE, YOUR AUDIENCE IS ENDED"!!!
It would appear the tableau of Doom continues. A reminder of my subjects "groveling" before my molevelance, in abject awe of their lord and master. Doom is well pleased with this newest addition to your gallery, Michael Kenyon. However, know you this.
Art treasures, such as these, belong within the fortified walls of Castle Doom. Only Doom, and Doom alone, is worthy enough to gaze upon such masterpieces. Thus, these last two renderings, of Doom's recorded history, shall be added to Doom's private gallery.
But Doom can be generous. Hand the art over to me, Michael Kenyon. And as a reward, Doom shall allow you to live, serving your Sovereign King till your dying day.
Do not resist, Kenyon. All art treasures belong rightfully to Doom.
"DOOM COMMANDS IT"!!!!
Doom has found you worthy, Michael Kenyon. Thus, Doom shall allow you to serve him, and live, until you have served Doom's purpose. What "purpose", you inquire? That is for Doom, and Doom alone to know.
In the meantime, Doom commands you to post more original art until it pleases Doom no more. Until that time~
"SILENCE, YOUR AUDIENCE IS ENDED"!!!
Greetings Michael Kenyon..
Doom The First is pleased with this miniscule tableau of his past. Although somewhat insignifigant, Doom still recognizes the import of a child's welfare and upbringing.
The girl's father was no more than a mere 'DOLT" for his incompetent rearing of a future subject of Latveria. Thus, his punishment was swift & just.
The child is now a ward of the state. Doom shall raise her as if she were his own. She shall learn, Michael Kenyon, what it is to be a loyal subject to the will of Doom. Just as you, and others shall.
Including the accursed Reed Richards. Yes, Richards. He, and his ludicrous quartet, shall soon grovel at the iron clad hand of Doctor Doom. Oh, how you shall pay, Richards.
Do you hear, Richards? Richards??
"RICHARDS"!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, what an awesome score. And whatta page from one of the greatest FF/ Doom stories of all-time!! I wish I had a page from this book half as good as yours. This one has it all. Enraged Doom, the whole FF team, the pogo-plane and "Flame On"! Who could ask for more? Congrats!
I had my eye on this one as well. Glad it went to someone who appreciates it s much as I do. Gary Frank rocks!
There'll never be another Joe Sinnott. And this proves it.
Awesome Spidey.
Well, this is overdue for a comment. Till the day he passed on, Mr. Sinnott never lost his flair for being one of the greatest (*if not the greatest*) inkers who ever lived. A true master. And this is a fine example.
Totally agree, Michael. FF# 200 was one of the greatest FF/ Doom stories ever told. And this commission, by Mr. Pollard, is a grand representation of that classic tale.
I'm totally embarrased. Here I am, a grown man, and I'm actually drooling. What a unique and historical find!
And the story behind this is almost as incredible as the art itself. All I can say, Michael, is this really took the wind out of my sails. Both Daredevil "and" Matt Murdock by his creator. Wow. If you ever decide to part with this gem, I'll be standing in line. "CONGRATS"!
This difinitive updated series simply doesn't get
the respect it truly deserves. As a huge Doom fan
I've always thought that "Books Of Doom" could be
translated perfectly into a live-action motion picture.
This page, you've scored, is a real sweet one. Especially,
that last panel. As a side note, I believe that lifesize
bust by Mike Hill & Alex Ross was inspired by the
art from these books. Anyway, congrats & thanks for
sharing.
How on earth did you get your hands on an Adam Hughes piece? And one as sweet as this. Love this artist. And am blown away by his take on Logan.
A BIG congrats. "GO KENYON"!!!
Love this story. A personal favorite of mine. And this page has so much going for it. The batmobile in front view and profile glory. Awesome silhuette of the dynamic duo. Great close-up panel of the team. And it's capped off with a thrilling aerial shot of them going into action. This isn't a score, Mike. It's a "TOUCHDOWN"!!
Now we're talking. This page rocks. Bruce Timm style Batman in action throughout., kicking ass. Loved this series. A perfect extension of the animated series. Any one of these stories would have made a perfect live-action episode. Sweet pick-up, Michael."KA-POW"!
How cool is this. An awesome headshot of Norrin Radd
by Mr. Lim, Ron's signature character. Excellent selection. Ron once did a Doc Doom for me in Vegas.
Great artist & one heckava nice guy. Anyway, all together CAF people~ "SCORE"!
Incredible work by the dazzling team of Frenz & Sinnott.
The odinson never looked mightier.
This is one of two ultimate Superman slashes by John byrne. (*the other's the final page out of "Man Of Steel" issue 1*) My own feeble words could not do the justice this "masterpiece" deserves. Leave it to say, you've been blessed by God Himself to own such greatness. I'm floored.
Truly, awesome key page. Miller's 1st work on both Spider-Man "and" his signature character; Daredevil. Who could want for more??
This one knocks it out of the park. My two ultimate favorite Superman artists; John Byrne, and of coarse, the legendary Curt Swan.
Welcome to the ultimate Iron Man splash page from the classic Romita Jr./ Layton run. Truly, a stunner.
Now this really ticks me off. This "fantastic" piece of work gets 80 views. And yet, not even one measley comment?? I mean, c'mon people. How could all 80 of you pass by without the slightest remark. Okay, if you won't say it, I will. This rendering of Doctor Doom is STUNNING, BEAUTIFUL, AMAZING, INCREDIBLE. Alex Maleev, like Jusko or Larkin, has a great gift in bringing these immortal characters to life. Doom never looked better. "CONGRATULATIONS ON GREATNESS"!
Awesome piece of art. A true embodiment of the spirit of this ground-breaking/ classic series. A huge congrats, Mike.
Awesome piece of art, embodying the true spirit of the show.
Excelent score, Mike. A huge congrats!
A page I owned for many years that I still miss very much. But still, it does my heart good, knowing it went to a good place. Excellent re-cap/ awesome art!
From one of my all-time favorite storylines from the 1980s. Spider-Man loses it in unfettered fury, while Doc Ock further pays the price. "Awesome"!
"Dream page"! This one pretty much has it all. Including my favorite gal, gorgeous Gwen. What a beautiful page. What an honor to be able to own it. "You're blessed"!
One of my favorite Avenger storylines. Hank was such an ass during this time. But what a great commentary it was. Especially, for that time period. Great score!
Big John Buscema might have been her first artist, but no one does She-Hulk quite like Byrne.
Awesome drawing of Coana. I've always loved the way Bob drew him.
"BY THE BRISTLING BEARD OF ODIN" ~ WOW! For years now, I've been searching wide & low for a Walt Simonson Thor. Still, no such luck. I've seen some rough body sketches, along with some so, so head-shots. But this one is really something special. Anyone can see that Walt took his time on this. The detail & pose are incredible. This would have easily made it as a cover or splash with ease. The Odinson never looked more majestic & powerful than he does here. I'm not going to ask how much this cost you, but I'm guessing (*at the very least*) 10G. And even if it cost you that much, you stole it. "BRAVO"! So, till the day this masterpiece hangs in the "HALLOWED HALLS OF ASGARD", keep this beauty out of the sun, and display it, in your home, for all the world to see. (*with the exception of Loki, of coarse*) Thanks for sharing the greatness. 'nuff said.
Oh wow, I've been wondering, all this time, who scored this beauty. Now I know. All I can say is its great page. Again; Pollard & Sinnott; a winning combonation.
"Dang", I really love this page. It really has it all, including the original Fantasti-car. Sinnott's inks over Pollard's pencils are simply amazing as always. Thanks for sharing the greatness.
Upon seeing this beautiful piece, I was thinking; what kind of frame it deserves; silver or gold? No matter really. How ever you display it (*pardon the pun*) it's simply a "fantastic" work of art. Bruce Timm rocks!
I'm a HUGE fan of Bruce Timm. That being said, I've always loved this cover. It still knocks me out when I stumble across the actual art from something so memorable to me. Congrats on this amazing score! I don't know how you did it, but "BRAVO"!
WOW, how bad-ass is this? I remember this cover vividly, after picking up that Marvel Age issue; back in the day. Simply amazing score!
Well, I might be a day late here, but "HAPPY B-DAY, SAL BUSCEMA". Great dedication. And what an increible Hulk page this is. If I were to own just one Hulk page, by our "pal", then it would be this one; hands down. Fantastic score!
Back in the day I used to say that when Michael Jackson discovers original comic art, then it'll be the end of my original comic art collecting. Sadly, yesteday might have been that day.
In case some of you don't know, this page just sold for a whopping $3,360,000.00. Let me repeat that: $3,360,000.00!! Not only is this the first piece of original comic art to reach such staggering heights, but also the first to break a million dollars. I'm guessing it's one of the high profile art dealers who scored this. Then again, it could be some rich tycoon, somewhere in Japan, buying this for his (*ULP*) kid. Either way, simply astonishing. "Wow"!
So here's the one that kick-started this classic series. I remember as a boy, seeing the cover, for no#1, advertized in various Marvel books. I remember the tinge of excitement I felt, thinking what a cool concept this was. I could hardly wait for it to hit the stands. "Fantastic score"!
