This week we have several comic art lots from several Auction Houses that are ending soon or being featured by CAF. Although we do not include every auction house in our service, you can discover much of the artwork at auction by searching in our comic art for sale database or follow any of the links below to visit each auction house and bid there.
It is the final countdown for the latest Hake's Auction, hundreds of pieces of original artwork close today. Vintage pieces from the early 20th century are available in Heritage's History in Pen & Ink: A Century of Cartoons & Illustrations Showcase Auction. The good girl art of the 50s and 60s are up for bids in the Humorama Mid-Century Gag Cartoon Showcase. Daredevil and Nomad guest star in a page from Punisher War Journal #47. Gen13's Fairchild flexes her muscles in a commission by Brett Booth And Norm Rapmund. A jam session breaks out in a page from Pep #173. An unused cover sketch of Spider-Gwen by Mark Bagley. Deathstroke leaps onto a train in New Titans #70. The Humorama Mid-Century Gag Cartoon Showcase features single-panel gag illustrations from various Humorama men's digest magazines of the 1950s and 1960s. This single owner collection highlights the cheeky and often chauvinistic humor these digests were known for, and showcases some top tier work by Bill Wenzel, Jack Cole, Dan DeCarlo, Bill Ward, Kirk Stiles, Bruce Stark, Herc Ficklen, Earl Engleman, Stanley Rayon, and Henry Scarpelli. Bids close on February 27th.
One hundred original strips from Zits are now up for auction on Heritage. Bids closes on March 6th.
eBay has up for bids a classic sci-fi action page from Gold Key's Star Trek #31 drawn by Albert Giolitti in 1975.
Reed comes up with a plan to foil Dr. Doom's plan in Fantastic Four #236. A gun-toting Spidey guest stars on the cover of Sledge Hammer! #2. The team finds a monument to the FF and the ruins of Four Freedoms Plaza in a future timeline in Fantastic Four #389. Doctor Doom wields Captain America's shield and Thor's hammer on the cover of All-Out Avengers #2. Maggie and Vivian are having a rough day in Love and Rockets #8. Laura Grant's fate is revealed through tarot cards in Madame Xanadu #1. Grooella is mad about her castle’s destruction in Groo the Wanderer #20. A variant Thing busts out of his restraints to find Ben Grimm in Fantastic Four #162. Alone figure stares at the starry night sky and an overhead spaceship in a sci-fi illustration by Edmund "Emsh" Emshwiller. Lightning strikes the gravesite of Amos Thackeray, awakening him from a 150-year rest in Journey into Fear #15.
