DescriptionCheck out this historic VERY EARLY Rob Liefeld Super hero Illustration! Talk about early work by Liefeld, this illustration is dated 6-21-84 for the shop known as Comicastle in Fullerton, CA. The entire beautiful stone looking logo is fully hand drawn by Rob Liefeld. Machine Man, Black Widow, Wolverine, Jericho, Blue Devil, Superman, the Hulk, Puck, Starfire, Power Pack, Storm, & Spider-Man in his black costume about 1 month after Amazing Spider-Man #252 hit the news stands! Many other heroes appear. This piece is in ink over graphite and blue pencil on board, and has an image area of 17" x 14". The entire lower portion with all of the figures is on its own board, attached to a larger board. There's a quarter-inch tear at the top that doesn't touch any drawn art, a piece of tape on the back, and a small bend in lower left corner. It fascinates me how from growing up in the 1970s as a kid with little money, I had to work on my paper route to have funds to buy all of the comics I loved as a kid. And growing older I was able to buy more expensive comics as I saved my money while in the U.S. Army at West Point from 1985-1989 and I was able to finally buy my very first pages of comic art in 1989 and it has been an unbelievable roller coaster ride ever since that point trying to find the Amazing Spiderman #1-297 pages and Spiderman strip art from 1-3-1977 to 11-9-1980 I love so dearly and covet!! |
