The Allusionists
I would say it all started at the age of five, after receiving a Disney's Wonderful World of Knowledge book set. I didn't try to read those books at the time but the illustrations in those pages ignited my imagination. Later, when I was about eight and living in Germany I started drawing, excessively. When my family moved back to the States, my drawings were lost forever and I was so upset that I never drew again. When I was a teenager, I started reading Epic, Heavy Metal, and other similar magazines. I just loved the art in their pages. In high school I hung sci-fi and fantasy posters on my walls but I always wanted the original art. Eventually, after the military, college and working for a few years in the contracting world I felt like my passion and creativity was dying. Then one day I passed a Death Dealer statue in a store window on the street. I went in and examined the statue and suddenly all those youthful, creative, and imaginative feeling came flooding back into my dulling mind. Once again, I started feeling an enthusiasm for life. That is when all the art collecting started in earnest. I am slowly trying to art again, but I haven't recaptured my patience yet. Maybe in time...
