Several years ago a friend of mine got me hooked on collecting orignal art (wait, you mean I can actually buy the art used in the production of the comic book? no way!). What I love about original art is that it really brings the page to life and lets you see it as the artist initially intended it to be. Sure, the final product looks nice when published (I have a great appreciation for my collection of CGC books), but nothing compares to the original. The only downside is that some pieces can be really expensive, but that's when you have to remind yourself that this is a one-of-a-kind work of art, featuring your favorite character and/or artist, often presenting itself to you as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity (to buy it before someone else does). Sometimes, you just gotta go for it!
