I'm a librarian at Northern Illinois University, where for the last decade I've been digitizing our collection of dime novels and story papers--the precursors to pulps and comics. Over 11,000 volumes can be found here: https://dimenovels.lib.niu.edu/. In 2020, I began commissioning my favorite comic artists to illustrate my favorite dime novel covers. This gallery contains those pieces and a little background about each character.
