PAPA, ERWIN

Erwin Papa is a Lakewood, California–based illustrator, sculptor, and toy designer. A Long Beach City College–trained artist, he has worked with clients such as Sideshow Collectibles, Super7, Just Toys International, Toyfinity, and ToyPizza. His sculptural work is part of the permanent collection at Copro Nason Gallery in Santa Monica, and his murals can be seen in San Diego. Active as an exhibitor, organizer, and curator since 2011, Erwin has illustrated comics for Heavy Metal and numerous independent publishers, and created the creator-owned character The Angriest Warrior. He has also produced character designs and sculptures for Monstors, Toyfinity, and ToyPizza, and co-founded Black Market Kaiju with Dope Pope and Erick Sosa to produce collectible figures. Deeply involved in the Long Beach art scene, he was part of the Hello Welcome collective and is a founding member of Ink & Drink Long Beach, hosting long-running in-person and online drink-and-draw events that support and connect the local and online art community.
