Ben’s Comic Art Collection!

Welcome to my gallery of comic art commissions and published art I've acquired at annual comic conventions.

I went to my first convention (Anime Convention) in 2007, which was the same year I finished college. I was introduced to comic con in 2008, which was the year I attended my first comic con. That same year, I was introduced by a friend, to the game of comic art collecting.

Before I started purchasing art, I was always getting free sketches and doodles since 2007. My art purchasing (collecting) hobby didn't officially launch til 2009, and I was immediately sucked right in!

Here you will find commissions, sketches, and original published comic pages I've obtained over the years, from artists at conventions, ebay, and through art agents.

This gallery also contains my personal work from my travel sketchbooks as well as pinup sketches and commissions I've drawn for other collectors.

I've always been drawn to superheroes, babes, storytelling, noir, and heavy black and white usages, and my collection is tailored to fit around those things I like to collect.

Comics are a fun way to tell a story, and storytelling is one of the things I enjoy most about comics. I believe that the best art isn't necessarily good looking art but art that combines good storytelling and raw emotions that gets the audiences attention. That's good art in my opinion. Good art isn't always drawing pretty pictures, but just as long as the storytelling and energy are good, and the story is good too, then the art can take off without great looking art. Not sure if you know what I mean when I say that.

Most of the art I buy are art that show a combination of good storytelling and raw emotion. There are only so many artists in the comic industry who can do just that. Tim Sale is one of the standouts in that league, and you will see that most of my art in my gallery is comprised of his art. Tim, in my honest opinion is one of the best at conveying raw emotion and good storytelling, and his art is also beautiful and the way he depicts action is very dynamic and environmental.
