Turgeon, Shane

I started collecting comics in the mid-late 1980s and moved into toy collecting in 1990/91 which is where most of my collecting budget was spent. I primarily collect vintage Star Wars and 3 3/4" GI Joes with a focus on prototype and preproduction material. With a love for pre-production toy and animations, I turned back to what started it all - comic books. While i have no desire to have long boxes full of comics anymore, original comic art has found a sweet spot in my heart and collect selectively.

Admittedly, my first foray into original comic art was a beauty - an unpublished pin-up page from GI Joe #1 done by Herb Trimpe. My next few purchases however, were fairly entry-level and lackluster and didn't really satisfy that need to have killer stuff. So, i decided to pick my favourite childhood characters and books and buy some smokin' splash pages or covers from those titles. I've only picked up a couple so far but i'm really glad i decided to go that route and i'm really satisfied with these new acquisitions.

I was the co-founder of the Edmonton Comic and Entertainment Expo which is one of Western Canada's largest events and was fortunate enough to work with many great artists and get many great commissions over the years.
I'm also the author of "The Force in the Flesh: Star Wars Inspired Body Art"; a self-published, hardcover coffee table book dedicated to Star Wars tattoos. Check it out at http://www.theforceintheflesh.com
