I've been collecting comics since I picked up Amazing Spider-Man #88 in 1970.
I got into collecting art when I picked up some Jim Aparo covers to Batman, Detective, and Brave & Bold at my local comic shop back in the late '70s / early 80s. I also got a really early Bruce Timm sketch (my 1st sketch), because he used to do drawings and sell them at my LCS when he was a kid!
I've been picking up con sketches and original art more seriously since the early 90s, though I have slowed down on original art in the last few years due to the escalating price.
