This page is from Man-Thing #8 page 11 from 1974 by Mike Ploog providing both pencils and inks. Man-Thing is proudly on full display on every panel. I'm in my sixties. No one wants to see my man-thing.
Seriously though, if a creature comes from (or is made of) the swamp, of course it should drip and ooze. Ploog's first two panels make us all understand that. The perfect artist for this "character."

I was surprised that looking at this I get a Wrightson vibe! Ploog does his usuall fantastic work here. THIS is the Man-Thing I remember and enjoyed! Nice Marcus!

Isn't awfully nice to have a Man-Thing. But you took it out in public, now they'll put you in the dock, and you won't come back. Oh, how frightfully clever your description is. (For that brief but shining moment, Ploog was the go-to guy for Marvel horror comics, and he delivered some great art. On your page, you gotta love the weird, almost Doctor Caligari like imagery in the larger third panel, and the last panel has a killer closeup. So glad you exposed it.)

Beautiful page, Marcus! One of my favorite character designs, hands down, and to have such a splendid example by Mr. Ploog is quite the score. Yours is a very, VERY special Man-Thing, Marcus, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise! I always imagined the long, stringy material hanging from M-T's forearms (along with some patches on his body) to actually be _hair_ rather than swamp grass ('cuz I thought it was just -creepier-) and I love how Mike draws that here! Especially love that last panel - wow! Great page, Marcus! Congrats!

That's an amazing page! It is so rare to get a page with Man-thing in so many panels, and it is rare to find that in a Ploog page. So this is a rare, rare thing, man. Superb.

Love the lines throughout, particularly on that top right panel! It's like MT is forming behing the sublime lady headshot. I need to get a Ploog myself soon. Congrats!

Ploog is great and this is a great page. He was one of those Bronze Age artists that BURNED Bright for a limited time...then seemingly disappeared...like Gulacy.

He went on to do a lot of character design work for Hollywood in the 80's.
