DescriptionThe Thing #5 page 21 from 1983. The end page of the issue that saw Benji fight off Wonder-Man, She-Hulk, and Spider-Man who were under the control of the Puppet Master. In the end, even Ben Grimm succumbs to the influence of the Puppet Master and gets angry! Look out Yancy Street Gang! I got this from one of the fabled Dino claim shows.Social/Sharing |

Great pickup from a Claim 15 Dino show! Only 3 panels, but they are all excellent, I love Ben's face in the second panel, and that last panel is just awesome!!!! Great piece!!!!

Ron Wilson isn't what I would call "one of my guys" but DAYUM. That is striking. That's a showcase wall piece right there.

Rubber cement + uv rays = yellowing. But, it gives the piece so much character, I wouldn't call it "staining". "Patina" seems much more appropriate.

The Thing definitely became a trademark character for Ron. Great page and that bottom shot of Thing is classic Ron Wilson.

Great page Marcus. This is one of my first comic books I ever read, I remember that last panel so vividly. Cool to see the original art for it.

The cover from this issue is one of the few pieces I wish I still had. It is to this day my favourite cover of the series, and this page has always been my favourite splash. Ron Wilson was still in his "John Romita disciple" phase durign this era and it shows. An excellent claim, no doubt about it!

The THING's facial expressions are FANTASTIC, the upper right is exuberant and the lower splash is grumpy good.

This is a fantastic page of the Thing - from panel design to blacks to that awesome bottom splash. And by an artist who really knew how to draw the Thing to boot. Many congrats, Marcus!

Oh, My... What a powerful image of the Thing! Certainly one of the best I've seen! And, judging from the many heavyweights who had their hands on the character, it means something, believe me!

Oh, was so bummed to miss this one but glad to see it in your collection, man! That bottom image...hard to top IMO for a Wilson OR Thing image! An imposing Ben, great pure illustration, and zipatone, baby! Can't beat it. Big congrats, MW!

Wilson was at his best on this run, but Barta is the unsung hero on this particular page. Some iconic Thing work here.
