DescriptionStriking rendition of Savage Wolverine in chains by superstar artist Rob Liefeld back in 1987 right before turning professional. Inspired by John Byrne and Terry Austin's work in X-Men #111 (1978) where Wolverine and his fellow X-Men are captured by Mesmero and brainwashed into thinking they are circus freaks. This amazing pin-up was likely inspired by Classic X-Men #17 cover (published Jan 1988 but released late 1987) with a strikingly similar Savage Wolverine by Jon Bogdanove. Liefeld penciled, inked, colored, signed and dated this for a lucky fan's sketchbook and revealed 40 years later! Social/Sharing |

And it's got feet! the question enquiring minds want to know is - is this piece still part of the sketchbook or was it seperated? If not, what else is in there? Congrats again!

How incredibly original. I don't think anyone has ever made a foot joke about rob's art before.

I appreciate you taking the time to recognize my magnificent and original comment, just not sure what you meant by joke?

Honestly, I think this looks better than most of his published stuff. There's a level of realism and detail I wish he would've stuck with as he moved forward. Congrats!

When Rob was 20 and still breaking in and not yet making it to DC. So it's pretty rare while he was on Megaton and showing his love of Wolverine as a fan himself.
