DescriptionIt had been some time since I uploaded a new piece from the artistic genius that is Eric Canete and my first color piece by him to boot.It obviously comes (by way of auction) from the same collector as the Rob Haynes piece I posted before this one, whose theme was Iron Fist VS. There is a lot to appreciate here. The composition is truly great with the attack from above angle. The Fist landing on Cap's shield is a fun part. His glowing hand lighting the whole piece is truly brilliant (…) as we fade from bright energetic green to below the ocean dark green from top to bottom. I also really like how the two part of his belt seemingly form a predatory maw that engulf Cap. The tilted diagonal angle is super dynamic and enhanced in many ways. From the two overlong necks (especially Cap's-but Eric's art has always been very graphich and stylised so it works for me) so that the oponents can meet each other at eye level to the energy radiating in waves from the charged Iron Fist (that transparent radiating hand is a great touch as well). On Cap's side, I like that he is built much larger than Fist, who is lither as he should be, and that he dies not bothered by the savagery of the attack or the weight of a full grown man on his shield, arm extended no less. The fact that he is readying his own punch is another very dynamic touch as well. The color work is exquisite and I find Eric does not receive enough credit for his (rarer) color work. The piece has been published in at least one of Eric's artbooks/sketchbooks. Social/Sharing |

There is so much life in this piece! From the drawing itself to the amazing color work, everything about it feels like there is non-stop motion going on. Congratulations on a great acquisition!

It's like Iron fist is summoning his powers from the heavens above to rain down on Cap's shield! Strong conflicting color mix illuminated from Iron Fist as the light source!

Dynamic poses, and everything is exaggerated in just the right way. Great pickup!

Big fan of Canete myself and this piece is just another example why. As much as I love the composition and dynamic figure work, the color effects he created in the background make this one really sing. Awesome pickup...congrats, man!

SO good, F. Eric really can do no wrong. Great compostion, stylized figures, and killer color work. Love the light emanating from Danny's chi up top. And I just saw it's the featured preview image for this week's coming CAF update! Not hard to see why. Congrats!

Beautiful! It looks like Danny learned a thing or two from his tussle with Batman (which you posted last week) and is going high here... And of course Cap's motto is nothing if not "when they go high, we go... and block it with a shield"! Spectacular colors (as others had mentioned) cascading down the length of this beauty: my favorite touch is the light glinting off the eight "petals" of armor on Cap's right shoulder, blazing white to sell the luminescent effect of Danny's chi. And, yeah - Iron Fist's sash wrapping around Cap is highly stylized Canete at the peak of his powers, further allowing Danny's inherent color scheme to dominate the piece. Wonderful work - broad strokes and fine touches - by Master Canete! Great add, FM!

Wow! So much action in this painting! Eric Canete really put this commission out of the park! Love the image of Iron Fist battling Captain America! I love how he's leaped on top of Cap's shield, the only thing keeping him from striking the Captain with his Iron Fist! I love the glow radiating from his Iron Fist, as he prepares to pummel Captain America into submission! Love too, the grit and determination on Cap's face as he blocks Iron Fist's attack and prepares his counterattack. Gorgeous painting--I'll bet it looks stunning framed and hanging on the wall!
