DescriptionI have owned this piece for 20 years now so I figured this was a good time as any to share it :)This is a very fun recreation of the Wolverine 47 cover by its original artist, Kirk Jarvinen. What is really appreciable is that unlike some lesser or higher artists, Jarvinen made sure that the recreation part is obvious in that he put the initial date of creation, i.e. 91, and the date of recreation itself, 2005. About the piece, that is a fun generic cover of Wolvie in berserker mode after having been shot at. I really like the front and centre Wolvie obviously, super savage with no pupils to enhance that fact, and very much in that 90s Art Adams vein. On the foreground, the stupor of the shooter seen from his profile is also well done and add a bit of story element to the scene. My point of entry for buying this directly from Kirk off ebay is that I really liked his art when he happened in the Comic Industry back when. It was obviously really influenced by Arthur Adams but he had an even more cartoony approach closer to animation, a bit like what Nick Bradshaw would later do with his own Adams and Disney influences. Sadly, after likely too young a start and promising early projects (the Aquaman mini series with Peter David comes to mind, followed by works for the X-office at Marvel, more work with David on Hulk and on his later efforts on Kolchak for Moonstone), his output dried off. Another talented artist that came and went sadly (with a presence on CAF that has not seen any activity in 15 years). Social/Sharing |

It's a fun piece indeed, but why are you posting it already? You haven't owned that long yet! Fyi, it would be far more interesting if you would upload the published cover so people could compare it to this recreation!

Very nice!
I've been friends with Kirk since 1991.
Great guy, great artist.
I still talk to him once or twice a year.

It has that millennium style that was all the rage at the time. Dig it!

Definitely another one for the "whatver happened to...?" file. No idea he had any work other than his Aquaman stint.

Kirk Jarvinen, now there's a name I haven't heard in a long time. Loved his work on Aquaman. Great cover recreation!
