Description

Cover "King Size" with a Dracula masterfully painted by Rafael López Espí for the Spanish edition of FANTOM VOL.1 N°3 published by Vértice in 1972, an edition of materials from the magazine "Chilling Tales of Horror vol.1 nº 6" (10/70) by Stanley Publications, which in turn reissued several materials from American Comics Group and Key Publications. This issue is specifically titled "El Diablo de la Televisión" and its content corresponds to Weird Chills No. 3 (1st History) - Key Publications; Out of the Night No. 1 (1st History) - American Comics Group; Adventures into the Unknown No. 3 (1st History)". 24 (2nd History) - American Comics Group; Soldiers of Fortune No. 10 (4th History) - American Comics Group; Adventures in the Unknown No. 34 (5th History) - American Comics Group; Adventures in the Unknown No. 28 (2nd History) - American Comics Group; Forbidden Worlds No. 14 (2nd History) - American Comics Group. (These stories do not belong to Marvel Publishing.)

As you can see, in general the quality of the covers that the artist made for the horror series is much higher than that of the superheroes (except in vol. 1 and some numbers 1 "King Size" of vol. 2).

In the additional images, a comparison between the giant size of the cover (50x36cm) with respect to the rest of the normal covers (35x25 cm).

An important addition to this work is that historically it is the first cover of terror that Lopez Espi makes for Vértice, since the two previous numbers were in charge of Enrich (as it happened in the collection of Spider-Man).

Como se puede ver, en general la calidad de las portadas que el artista realizó para la serie de terror es mucho mayor que la de los superhéroes (excepto en el vol. 1 y algunos números 1 "King Size" del vol. 2). En las imágenes adicionales, una comparación entre el tamaño gigante de la portada (50x36cm) con respecto al resto de las portadas normales (35x25 cm).

Una adición importante a este trabajo es que históricamente es la primera portada de terror que López Espi hace para la editorial Vértice, ya que los dos números anteriores estaban a cargo de Enrich (como sucedió en la colección de Spider-Man).
