Incredible!! Davis had the rare ability to use his cartoony style of extreme detail and exaggeration in both humor stories and dramatic serious stories like this one and not lose any storytelling impact. Congratulations!

Really an incredible page, Davis' war work is first class and the EC war books are the best ever. This page really does show the horror of war... Davis war is the pinnacle of comic story telling.

A perfect EC war page... Kurtzman and Davis were a formidable team. The thousand yard stare in panel two is particularly affecting.

The faces of anguish are unlocked by Davis to show a war story that is anti war. Every panel is more convincing than the last.

The facial expressions are amazing, but I think it's the way he draws the eyes that make the images so impactful. Also, the fourth panel almost looks like Davis is channeling Edvard Munch's "the Scream."
