Description

I have been dying to own one of Pete Hawley's Jantzen pieces, but have had no luck so far. In the meantime, I am thrilled to be able to share a gorgeous, whimsical piece painted by Pete in 1962 as a gift for a friend's daughter, Susie Pratt. In beautiful condition except for a tiny bit of paint loss from the mouse's blue cap and from the kitten's green pillow. Acquired from the original recipient to adorn our new baby room! Her niece was nice enough to let me have a photo from when she first received the painting as well (she was 16 years old).

There's a typed letter that's hand signed on the back. But I did also get a handwritten card and another unpublished childrens painting from the now-grown-up girl as well. You must have seen the photos, eh?

Lovely painting. I love that trompe l'oeil effect with the butterfly in the foreground. Thanks for sharing it!
