Description

I don't know exactly who did this sketch, but it was a true master, whoever it was! This was from an early 1940s ad, which would have been during the Haddon Sundblom era, with Gil Elvgren and Charles Showalter working alongside him. Would be very interested in hearing the thoughts of other illustration collectors!

really beautiful! my knowledge is not good enough to identify the artist I'm afraid, but it's a wonderful illustration

I am not sure when Harry Ekman started with Haddon (a major weakness of the Sunbloom book is that it does not dea lwith assistants) HW MacCauley was with him then . A number of Ekman pencils as well as a few paintings came out of amybe his estate in Chicago circa the late 70's early 80s but there were also a number of ELvgren pencils circulating at that time and this maybe Ed Klimek as it is a bit similar to some pencil work I once owned by him- He is a nother memebr of SUndbloms shop in t he 1940's before he went on staff at the tribune.
