I just love it when a great Batman artist illustrates the hero in a vintage and classic pose, which his creator Bob Kane established and made so famous and unforgettable during the early days of his career back in 1939 and the early 1940's. And, this piece is an absolutely wonderful nostalgic ode to Kane's original vision and rendition of the dread Batman.

Original title splash artwork for Detective Comics #501 (DC, 1981) by the late, great Don Newton (pencils) and his best finisher by far and away, Dan Adkins (inks). This scene opens the tale entitled, "The Man Who Killed Mlle. Marie!", and features a cool image of The Batman as he pulls his cloak across his body in dramatic and unforgettable fashion, while watching two of his most trusted friends, Alfred Pennyworth and Lucius Fox boarding a plane destined for France. And, another classic mystery tale begins to unfold.

This title splash comes complete with Batman's origin in the fist narrative box as well as the famous Bat-Logo, designed by the incomparable Neal Adams. Simply superb in every way imaginable!
