Description

Original artwork for Detective Comics #506 (DC, 1981) by the late, great Don Newton (pencils) and Steve Mitchell (inks). From the thrilling tale, "Who Dies for the Manikin?," as the vengeful Manikin (origin and 1st appearance) toys with Batman in fashion designer Mr. Houston's large studio. Great shots of Batman all over this page, with a superb large one-third splash panel at the bottom as Batman torques his torso in various directions, frantically searching for his elusive, unseen and quite deadly adversary.

Newton and Mitchell convey a haunted house feel with the grid of small panels where shadow can take up the entire background!  The pull back in the last panel creates those tall shadows that hover like ghosts for those souless figures that could jump out at Batman at any moment!
