Description

Russ Heath redefines the word draftsmanship..his style is so straightforward that the viewer doesn't register the level of craft..and only the greatest entertainment functions in this manner. Like a master movie director..you don't see the direction because you are carried away within the story.No flashy "dog tricks"...just amazing skill. The young pups should take a page from Heath's book.............a true master! and..Boy does he draw a great German!

use use of lighting is very intimidating. that foliage and heavy use of blacks on the figures really creates tension,great atmosphere,no easy feat.

. . . and it's very pleasing to note that (for the most part), Heath's depictions of uniforms, insignia and hardware are authentic-looking. He obviously took the time and trouble to do his research. Heath's work has remained consistently good throughout his career - one of the very best!!!

This is a superior example of course, but war comics are generally vastly underrated and did often contain more than competent art.
