DescriptionLast summer I decided to stop collecting original art (yes guys, I'm not kidding), so my last purchase will remain the Dino Battaglia page posted on July 22nd.Of course this doesn't mean that I'll sell my collection (at least for now), nor that I'll stop browsing CAF to admire other members ones. Also, from now on, I'll post some pieces that for some reason I hadn't yet included in my Gallery, such as this lovely painting of Little Red Riding Hood, purchased years ago and of which I still don't know the author. My guess is that it was originally intended as the cover for a book illustrated by the same artist, but then another piece, clearly made by another hand, was chosen for this purpose (see additional images). And so this painting probably remained unpublished. Ah, the mysteries of publishing! ;) (mixed media on artboard, 9"x 12,5" - the blurry effect at the edges isn't due to a bad photo, but is actually in the painting) Social/Sharing |

European fairy tale done in a very European manner as it doesn't remove any of the teeth of the dynamic that Red is in fear and danger. The children may find this too realistic and intense.

Thanks Fabio, I'm very curious too! Maybe I'll find out when I get my hands on the book, already purchased on ebay ;) It's most likely an Italian artist, in any case someone with an excellent technique.

It is a incredible piece and I am sad to see to you go. Just remember.
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
When the road looks rough ahead
And you're miles and miles from your nice warm bed
Just remember what your old pal said
Boy, you've got a friend in me
Yeah, you've got a friend in me

Thank you very much, John! I've decided not to buy any more new art, but I will certainly continue to enjoy my collection and admire the beautiful Galleries here on CAF, especially those of my friends :)

Beautiful illustration. I thought I was out of buying or trading art after a horrific experience. The bug always bites! You will be back.

Hey, fellow cat! No horrific experiences, no real constraints. Simply the natural conclusion of a journey. Since every journey, even the most beautiful, ends at a certain point. I'm very firm and calm about it, I really don't think I'll go back.

That happened to me with comics. I have only read a few since 2016. I sort of burned out on rereading supposed relaunches. That was after collecting them since 1977! If you go the selling route I have left notes on a few pieces. I really would suggest hanging onto your art unless you really need the money though. They are one of a kind pieces.

Delicious and interesting table, I love tables with unsolved mysteries.. sometimes you don't necessarily need to know who the author is but the line says it all, it already tells a story that can't lie (cit. Pazienza) So congratulations again for the beautiful piece. PS. I'm sorry to hear of your rather drastic choice because you are a precious and historic, great collector of CAF and I would also add very attentive and active with rare sensitivity. But I'm sure you will have your good and unquestionable personal reasons, sometimes they are just feelings that change without a precise reason or decisions due to various factors in life or just transitory reflective phases that can also do good. In any case, yours remains a fantastic collection and I hope you won't abandon us completely here on CAF, then over the years you can always change your mind! ;-)

What a fun, charming illustration from a less cynical age. I miss those days sometimes. Delightful pick-up, congrats!
