Description

Out of a very successful and high quality read line, the very best Valiant title for me so far remains Harbinger written by Joshua Dysart.

And the very best artists working on the title have been Kari Evans and Clayton Henry.

Here we have a page entirely dedicated to Animalia. Animalia as her name suggests, can morph into any animal. However, having been raised in captivity by Harada�s Harbinger foundation, the only animals she has seen are those out of cartoons resulting in her morphing into cartoon animals when she powers up. I think this is a brilliant twist on a classic concept by Dysart.

Clayton�s pencils are so tight and precise, the art was printed directly from them. I remain constantly in awe of his art, the attention to body language, facial expressions and plain storytelling.

Everything is brilliant here: the cartoon pterodactyl with the cartoon smile, the way she depowers up, retaining her wings while flying down, her stance on a rock indicating a feline form coming next and her morphing into a cheetah while going after the rabbit. All these are to me signs of someone who puts a lot of thought into his art. And given the higher price tag on this page compared to the others, I got the feeling this was one of Clayton�s favorites as well.
