DescriptionA great cover by the incredible Clayton Henry. This one comes from the Marvel line for kids from close to 10 years ago. Those heavy continuity free titles could offer some great art and writing from time to time. I think this one speaks for itself. A great action image of Cap against a foe he is not often associated with and who one would consider is grades above his power set. I love the intensity of the Rhino’s charge and its impact here. Running head down like his animal namesake. The fact that both his arms are thrown back really enhances that. The flying brick wall or concrete block and all the dust also add to the violence of the scene. And then you can tell Cap is straining from the impact. His face shows it all. This is a mighty blow he is receiving. His crouching position (which makes him looks small in comparison to his gigantic opponent), both his hands on the back of his shield and his feet pinned in the dirt are also underlining his struggle. And then the angle Clayton choose to portray the scene. It’s pretty clever as it pulls you in it while showcasing both characters. The fact that we as the “reader” are seeing the scene from behind Cap’s shield really makes you root for him. Poor Cap! I really love Clayton’s art and always have found that he is both excellent at facial expressions and body language to convey information. I also find he really is an excellent storyteller that seemingly, consciously or not (I never discussed it with him), put a lot of (little) things in his art to support what is needed on a page. And does that cover tells a story or makes you want to flip through the book! This incredible cover is an obvious proof of his skills. His inks are also razor sharp precise. Incidentally, this cover makes me think of my Cap vs Wolvie commission by Jason Pearson. Same kind of approach from two fantastic artists. This is part 4 of my 2019 CAF B-Day celebration. Congrats on the pick up! A strong example of Henry's ability. Strong figures, great lighting and composition. Captures the intensity in the moment!

Always liked this one, man...again...your good taste is confirmed! Great battle shot and makes you want to open the book up! Love the perspective choice, too. I always thought Cap vs. Rhino lends to some nice imagery. Congrats!
