A fantastic commission from one of my favorite modern artists Clayton Henry.

This is a redo of the Avengers 100 cover by the great Barry (Windsor) Smith.
I count no less than 14 characters on this cover (17 if you add the animal mounts).
Clayton�s interpretation is probably more balanced than BWS� in terms of pure composition. I find that his Cap and Black Panther are fantastic. You can really hear Cap yelling Avengers Assemble!

I also love the flying characters which I find more dynamic than on the original.

The one suffering from the crowded scene is clearly Quicksilver but in such a packed piece, the artist has to make choices. The Hulk could probably have been more bulky by nowadays standards but it's not overly shocking.

I don�t care much (at all) for the Hawkeye without mask and with the purple-ish flowery costume but he was in this costume on the original cover. What is amusing is that Art Adams also drew a redo homage of this cover and went for Hawkeye in the regular costume we all love.

I don�t care much for Mr Santos adequate inks I will confess which I find don�t particularly do justice to Clayton�s intricate delicate pencils.

But since the piece was inked directly on the pencils (a year apart), I had no choice if I wanted to own the piece.

Another one I basically stole from Kirk so thanks for parting with it ;)

Agree with you. The pencils only version is quite astounding and delicate, things that are dulled on the inked version. But overall composition and execution are top-notch. Congrats on that real gem!!!
