Description

Completed March 2003. I made the arrangements for this drawing directly with Ken.

Like many folks my age, I was introduced to Ken Steacy's work in the pages of Marvel Fanfare. He also did some great covers for Marvel and DC back in the day (the eerie 'mirror' cover to the last issue of Vigilante remains a personal favorite).

This drawing was one of the first-ever commissions that I had done for my themed collection. I asked for Ken to draw something that riffed on the classic cover concept of 'floating heads'. Ken took that idea and just kept going with it - eventually adding extra characters, airbrush and paint to the completed art.

The characters depicted in this drawing are: Iceman, the Thing, Cannonball, the Ringmaster and the Clown (aka the Crafty Clown).
