John Romita pencils with Jim Mooney inks, from the CLASSIC 1968 AMAZING SPIDERMAN story titled: "MISSION: CRUSH THE KINGPIN!" KINGPIN BEATS UP HIS HENCHMAN FOR NOT OBEYING HIM! I personally feel that Jim Mooney was the BEST inker EVER on JOHN ROMITA (next to Romita inking himself) Mooney's inks are so detailed that the only inker I feel who inked better in the 1960s was Joe Sinnott!

Brilliant. In so many ways!!

The pencils are, of course, amazing. The inks are breath-taking. But I love the story the art tells along with the provided dialogue. I can HEAR Kingpin's voice as he chastises his henchman. I can HEAR his anger. And it is because of the wording and lettering, but the art does a superb job dramatizing the scene.

Everything just works so perfectly together. I don't know many modern comic books that have it all like this page from ASM 69 does. This page fully illustrates the full potential of a collaborative team's story-telling. All the parts of that work in a perfect harmony.

Again- this is brilliant. Thank you for sharing it here on CAF!
