Description

To infinity – and beyond! Danny Franks takes his divine place and begins his reign with an act of destruction. Will he be a wrathful god? The abominable Protoid certainly gets the Old Testament treatment here – and it couldn’t happen to a nicer anthropovore! Of particular note are the ‘Vitruvian Man’ take on Danny in the first panel, as he discards human proportions forever, as well as the look in the Krool Heart’s eyes as it disposes of Protoid – there’s something there of Kano’s satisfaction in killing the Protoid-parasite earlier in the story. Danny’s mention of ‘stepping through the mirror’ makes him sound a little like Alice Through the Looking Glass – appropriate on many levels. A former pawn, he’s advanced across the chess board to become royalty, just as Alice did – a nod of the head to his earlier comment about chess during ‘The Short and Happy Life of De Racine’.
