Description

Drawn 'live' for charity in four-and-a-half hours at the UK Comic Art Convention 1988, this cracking little story does feature one intriguing continuity balls-up, made manifest on this particular page. Danny is wearing his skull shoulder-pads from 'Bad Company II: The Krool Heart' - but they are inherited from Mad Tommy (and touched-up), after his death in the last episode of 'The Bewilderness'.

A lovely little story... I had no idea this was drawn 'live' but Barney never lies: "This story was pencilled, inked and lettered in four-and-a-half hours, in front of a watching audience, at a 'charity work-in' which took place at UK Comic Art Convention 1988." Great stuff. As a callow youth I even attended UKCAC88, where I was disappointed that Dave Gibbons wasn't Brian Bolland (imagine the look on Dave's face). Hah!

I put that continuity error down to the fact that this is actually one of the experiences Danny had in the pit of pain, and is not actually an event that really happened. Note the longer dreadlocks, the shoulder pads, the falling body and the fat that there was nowhere in Badcompany that this could have taken place. :D

Creative thinking, Julius, but I reckon that works for me - whilst in the Pit, Danny does claim to be crazy with grief for every living thing, even Krool. Maybe this is an extension of his revelation that even Krool have a purpose and place in the universe, but have become corrupted.
