DescriptionThe cover to Iron Fist #14 is one of the cornerstones of my comic art collection. Drawn by Al Milgrom based on layouts by Dave Cockrum, this iconic cover features the first appearance of Sabretooth, one of the fiercest villains in Marvel's rogues gallery and a character that was originally slated by Chris Claremont to be Wolverine's father. The piece is a great specimen of comic art of this vintage with scribbles in the margins,visible corrections, pasted logos and other indicia that really shows how the creative process of publishing comics worked before the digital age.Social/Sharing |

I just realized that I posted this piece in my Fred Hembeck gallery by mistake. I moved it over to the Al Milgrom gallery, so hopefully that works without a hitch.

No mention of Bill Woo in your description? I believe that he was the previous owner of this cover. I saw this cover at his shop in Delaware years ago, and it is indeed quite impressive.

I don't recall the details, but I believe that he was selling this piece in order to raise the money to buy a Jim Lee cover or something along those lines.

And an interior page from this issue just sold on Heritage last month. When that page surfaced, I got excited. When I saw this cover page, I got a chubby. If you ever need to raise funds to buy a Jack Kirby cover, let me know. I'd be very interested in making an offer.

Not sure how I missed this one. Another piece of comics history here! I've always loved the design of this cover from layout to pencil and ink to that blue background and all the great pops of color in the logos and costumes. Love it.

I have marveled over the art via my copy of this comic so many times over the years. It is just pefect IMO. Hearty congrats on this amazing piece. An LCS did a huge lego recreation of the cover - have you seen it?

Whooaaaa! The FIRST appearance of Sabretooth? That's amazing! And such a great cover to have it on! Gorgeous work by Al Milgrom--He's such an underrated artist but clearly grail-worthy! Congrats on owning this beauty!

Awesome cover! Very memorable issue for me. Besides being a huge Byrne fan, back in 1989-90, I spent many days and drove many miles to visit a ton of comic shops trying to find a mint copy. Great memories! Thanks for sharing!
