Description

Gerald McCann : "The Conspiracy of Pontiac" by Francis Parkman. Complete 45-page story (Gilberton, January 1960). 4 printings. Painted cover and interior art by the prolific Gerald McCann, who supplied painted covers or interior artwork for more than forty Classics Illustrated, Special Issues, and World Around Us titles.
The close-ups of Pontiac ( see pages 3, 22 and 42 ) offer excellent examples of McCann's dry-brush and split-brush techniques which he had brought with him from his background in pulp-fiction illustration.

Love looking at these pages which give us a window to what the world was long ago. McCann is an excellent artist.
