Description

During the many exchanges we had in which we were planning our stay at Heroes Con, my good friends and awesome creative team, Comfort Love and Adam Withers, mentioned to me that they had a gift for me that they were planning giving me at the show: Something that "was sitting in the back of the closet". Of course, that comment intrigued me, but in the chaos of getting ready for the show, it was largely something I forgot...until we showed up at our hotel room in Charlotte.

Most of you that check in on my gallery know how big a fan I am of Comfort and Adam's work. If I'm not the biggest fan, champion, and cheerleader of their comic, The Uniques, then I'm a close second behind only their parents and immediate family. So when they presented me this--the double-page spread that sees the fever-pitch ending of the first, incredible story arc come to its crescendo--it was all I could do not to tear up. For real. This book is the most enjoyable comic experience I've had in a solid twenty years...and now one of its most important scenes is in my collection. Incredible.

The first double page spread in my portfolio, I can't possibly thank Comfort and Adam enough for this piece...but I'm going to try, anyway. For those of you that still haven't checked the two of them out...you really owe it to yourselves to read The Uniques. Give it a try and thank me later for it. When you do, you'll see two great creators constructing a true labor of love: A potent combination, indeed. Thanks, Comfort and Adam for the marvelous piece...and moreover, for being such good friends!!! :D

An amazing gift from an amazing pair of creators! This is a great set of pages, and I'm sure you must be thoroughly excited to own them! Congrats!

Once again Carlos, you are just too kind. This was frankly just something sitting in the back of our closet and we thought - 'huh, who would like this?' And then we both looked at each other and said, 'Carlos!" You have such a genuine love for the book, it didn't just need to go to you - it belonged to you. The artwork told us so! The best part of the whole weekend was seeing your face when we gave this sucker to you! We love you man, this couldn't have gone to a bigger fan or a nicer dude :)

Carlos, this is a perfect example of true love of art. These pages are terrific and I have to agree with Comfort. They belong to you. :) Congratulations, my friend.
