DescriptionThis little sequence has been on my want list for nearly ten years. I fell in love with it the moment I read it. What I look for when buying original pages is good storytelling above all else. And this little sequence is a gem. These two pages tell a beautifully inspiring life lesson, wonderfully written by Kevin Smith. What’s possibly even more inspiring is the crystal clear storytelling of Phil Hester. This may look easy but a simple sequence like this is quite challenging to draw. Wonderful stuff. Plus, you’ve got the powerful inks by Ande Parks to top it off. Phil and Ande are a pair made in heaven and these pages are a prime example of that. These pages have been in Kevin Smith’s private collection for ten years and have only recently been made available thanks to Kevin’s big Viewaskew garage sale. Fellow CAF member Duane Murray purchased the complete first issue at the auction and decided to only keep the final splash page. I didn’t think twice to take these two pages off his hands. I couldn’t be happier to finally add this sequence to my collection. Social/Sharing |

Like you, I had been looking for that last splash page ever since I started collecting OA. It was one of the first pages I looked into getting as it was so memorable for me at a time when I was most into comic book reading. I contacted Phil about it and he said it was "long gone". I just thought some collector had it. Little did I know, it was Kevin Smith himself who had it!!! So when the opportunity came up to get it, I bought it, even though it meant I had to buy the whole issue. I argued back and forth with myself as to whether I should break it up or not. Finally I decided that if I were a collector and wanted a page from that first issue badly I would want the opportunity to own a single page. Reading your feelings on these pages (we hadn't really talked about it) makes me glad I did. I'm really happy these two pages seem to mean as much to you as that last splash page means to me.
