DescriptionI feel so proud to own this cover :) This THE book where people began to really take notice of Jason's incredible art. Sure, he had done Legion before but his art reached a whole new level with this book and the general public took notice. Though this was an investment, I could not let it pass once I saw it, coming out of nowhere. Jason's art was much more angular back then and his art has certainly bettered since, but his design sense, flawless inks and dynamic composition was already here. One of the best pieces in my Pearson collection, if only for its historical value (plus, it's a X-Men book after all, introducing a very 90s villain!)2018 update: the art was also reprinted in b&w in Amazing Heroes Interviews 2 (1993) which featured an article on Gaijin studio members. Huge congrats for picking this up! I'm with you, this is THE piece that made people sit up and take notice of Jason. If I had known it was available, I'd have done everything possible to be in the running for it myself!

This certainly is the first time I noticed Pearson's art--and it definitely knocked me out. Love his Storm!

I remember these annuals mostly for being cash grabs - 'All first appearances, bagged with a card. Better snatch em up!'. Most of them barely held up then, much less now. This was one of the few exceptions. Pearson's work had a familiar but distinct style for the time, and Lobdell's story was extremely poignant. Great piece, and great reminder of a standout book.

Congrats on this one! Any cover with Colossus is a win and this one was particularly memorable from the era when it came in the bag :)

I've only recently discovered Jason's work and am a huge fan. Have a couple of his pages, but never was able to score a cover. Great pickup!
