Description

I was final able to pick up a Kirby. I spent the last 12 years looking for one that hits what I love about Kirby and that I could afford. This is it. Kirby's wild/wierd DC 70's run, great action, Kamandi, Gorillas (and St. Ugash!), and best of all the page works a mini one page story/scene. I am super happy with this piece

Kirby is having great fun in these Fourth World stories! His blocky figurework is a sight to see in action and for emotional scenes! Very impassioned Kamandi image in the fourth panel. The grenade looks like a flying pineapple in the last panel!

You're right, this page has a lot of Kirby greatness. You really feel Jack's combat experience in his staging of the ape soldiers in panel one. Kamandi's desparation is palpable in 2-4: Kirby was THE master of body language. I also like the brutality of this war-torn world-- "beat him if he struggles" --and Kamandi's species prejudice in panel 4. Kamandi's unwarranted pride in being human is one of his great character traits throughout the series.
