There was no one better at the art of the splash page than Will Eisner. This is wonderful!

It is still a source of amazement how, through sheer imagination and an impeccable sense of design, Mr. Eisner integrated his story with the Spirit logo. His approach could be light and humorous, as it is here, or deadly serious, but it was almost always visually arresting in a way that only comics could achieve.

I met Will Eisner only one time, it was in the middle 70's in a Lucca's restaurant, he was sitting near me.
