DescriptionAlmost everything Mr Buscema did for Marvel in the seventies has been published in France when I was a kid. I grew up with Sal's art. So, when I discovered that sal was accepting commissions, I didn't hesitate and contacted Al Czarnecki, Sal's art rep.But what would be the subject of this commission? Difficult to choose because Sal Buscema seemed to be drawing EVERY comic I read as a child. In the past, many artists represented themselves, at their drawing board, with their most famous characters around. If I was right, "Our Pal Sal" never drew such a self-portrait. Okay, I got my subject. Now, the choice of the characters... I thought it would be interesting to have a mix of very famous heroes and lesser-known characters. So, let's go with: - HULK (of course) - NIGHTHAWK - VALKYRIE - ROM - NOVA - CAPTAIN AMERICA - SPIDER-MAN - SUB-MARINER The transaction was arranged in august 2013. And, seven months later, a package unexpectedly arrived. The artwork inside left me speechless. Many many thanks to Sal and Al for setting this up. This commission blows me away and takes me back in time. Some of Sal's longest runs featured these characters,and this one features mine, Nova and Nighthawk! Congrats on a fine tribute to "our pal Sal"!

I love these pieces with artists at their drawing boards and their creations gathered around! This is a great example of that theme by Sal! An inspired commission choice! Congrats and thanks for sharing!

This is very cool. I LOVED Sal Buscema's run on Spectacular Spider-Man so I'm always ready to give a Sal piece applause. Bravo!
