DescriptionPage 17 from the issue 2 of Atlas' "The Grim Ghost" (2011) with pencils by Kelley Jones and inks by Eric Layton (signed) on 11" x 17" thick art paper.Unfortunately, I believe this is a stat of Jones' pencils, that were then inked over by Layton, as opposed to actually inking Jones' pencils. I thought it was originally blue-pencils, but I think they just printed a stat of the pencils in light-blue for Layton to ink over. I purchased directly from Layton and just ASSumed these were actual pencils. Bummer. Social/Sharing |

Xerox over pencils? Nice... sigh. I bought some of these recntly too for a bargain. I assumed that it was because it was not batman / deadman / hammer / aliens / sandman et al ... I think I'll need to have a closer look at them...

This is because a) if you really look at the blue-lines, they don't look "real": there are even little blue specs that you typically get from unclean scanning-bed glass, and b) I read that Jones doesn't sell his pencils, which I'm again ASSuming means copies or a lightbox would then have to be used to ink. I could be completely wrong (and usually am). Maybe somebody with more knowledge about Jones can add some light here. Whatever the case on mine, Gavin, hopefully yours include the actual pencils. :)

I checked mine. Xerox / colour printed pencils as well. Oh well. Still great art! I'll have to see who the inker is...
