Description

I loved Matt Kindt’s Super Spy graphic novel, so I picked up Revolver when it came out last Spring. As he describes Revolver on his web site, “It’s a surreal thriller about an ordinary guy living in two wildly different realities, gradually realizing he alone has the power to avert the series of apocalypses that’s destroyed one world, yet finding himself freer and more alive there than he ever was in the other.”

Wired wrote “Careening between alternate realities every time the clock strikes 11:11, Matt Kindt’s graphic novel Revolver is a subtle exploration of boredom and apocalypse, consumption and survival.” I was completely gripped by the story and it’s very much one for our times as we’re still living in the shadow on 9-11 with looming concerns about domestic terrorism, abuse of government power, and economic uncertainty.

This page made an impression on me when I first read Revolver since it evoked the indelible memories of the 9-11 footage of bodies falling from the twin towers of the World Trade Center, some being blown to their deaths by the explosions and some leaping hand in hand by choice to avoid the flames. Matt’s art is extremely powerful washed in blue in the published pages of Revolver and more so in its original color scheme at the full 11 1/2” x 17” size.
