Encre de Chine pour la planche 24 de cet album, 6�me album de la s�rie, publi� en 1957 aux �ditions Dupuis. Sign�e � l�encre de Chine.
Pr�publi�e dans le journal Spirou en 1956.

Exceptionnelle planche de grand format. Il s�agit probablement d�un des passages les plus mythiques de toute la s�rie. Le d�coupage des 2 derniers strips est d�une tr�s grande modernit� pour l��poque et pour le journal Spirou, rompant avec le d�coupage en � gaufrier � (division de la planche en 12 cases �gales) que Peyo pratiquait jusqu�alors. Le d�coupage accentue l�opposition entre la petitesse des h�ros et la taille exceptionnelle et imposante du g�ant. La tension dramatique est particuli�rement intensifi�e par cet effet. Apr�s des jours et des jours de marche, de d�sillusions en d�sillusions, Johan et Pirlouit se retrouvent nez � nez avec le g�ant qui habite le long de la rivi�re et qui prot�ge l�acc�s � la grotte menant � la source des dieux. La psychologie et la personnalit� des personnages sont ici mises en valeur avec une absolue finesse et justesse.

This is an exceptional large format strip and is probably one of the most mythical passages in the entire series. The cut-out of the two final strips is way ahead of its time and for Spirou, breaking with the �gaufrier� cut-out (division of the strip into 12 equal panels) which Peyo had undertaken until that time. The cut-out accentuates the opposition between the small size of the heroes and the exceptional and imposing stature of the giant. The dramatic
tension is particularly intensified due to this effect. The psychology and personality of characters are showcased here with total finesse and precision.
