Pr�publi�e dans le journal Spirou en 1955.

La Pierre de Lune est le seul album de Peyo dont les planches furent r�alis�es � l�encre de Chine et au lavis bleu. Une partie seulement des planches de cet album furent r�alis�es de la sorte � sans que l�on sache exactement combien � augmentant encore la raret� de ces oeuvres graphiquement si belles et si rares dans une oeuvre enti�rement domin�e par le noir et blanc.
La Pierre de Lune est consid�r� par de nombreux amateurs et professionnels comme l�album marquant le passage dans la maturit� pour cette s�rie. Peyo lui-m�me consid�rait Le Ch�timent de Basenhau et Le Ma�tre de
Roucybeuf comme des erreurs de jeunesse. Le Lutin du Bois aux Roches est encore un album � part, charni�re, qui voit la naissance de Pirlouit et cherche ses marques dans un Moyen-�ge encore relativement r�aliste, peu empreint de fantastique. Le duo Johan et Pirlouit prend toute son ampleur dans ce 4�me album La Pierre de Lune, l�humour trouve alors son envol et le merveilleux s�installe r�ellement pour la premi�re fois dans cette s�rie. Le basculement est flagrant, la construction du r�cit est parfaite, m�me le style graphique de Peyo gagne en maturit� et en perfection.
La planche ici pr�sent�e est l�une des plus belles de l�album, alliant humour, bravoure ou encore duel � l��p�e dans une sc�ne de nuit aux contrastes superbes, renforc�s par la pr�sence du lavis. Sont repr�sent�s Johan, Pirlouit, l�enchanteur Homnibus ainsi que les deux acolytes de Boustroux.

The Moonstone is Peyo�s only album in which the strips used Chinese ink and blue ink-wash. Only some of the strips in this album were illustrated like this, thereby increasing the rarity of these works in terms of the illustrations, which were so rare and beautiful in a work
dominated by black and white. The Moonstone is considered by many fans and professionals alike to be the album which marked the maturity of this series. The duo of Johan and Peewit is truly thrust to the fore in this 4th album, The Moonstone, with the level of humour reaching new heights and the mystery playing a key role and forming the true basis for this series. The change is clear, the construction of the storyline is perfect, and even Peyo�s illustrative style gains in maturity and perfection.
