DescriptionOPPER WAS A REAL INNOVATOR IN COMICS, HIS DUMBED DOWN DRAWING APPROACH (OTHERS WHO USED THIS METHOD; TAD DORGAN AND T.E. POWERS DESERVE MENTION) REALLY LET THE READER ENTER INTO THE IDIOTIC WORLD OF HIS CHARACTERS. OPPER UNFORTUNATELY BEGAN TO LOSE HIS EYESIGHT AND AFTER NEARLY 50 YEARS AS A CARTOONIST, WAS DONE BY THE MID 30s. I THINK HIS “DUMBED DOWN STYLE” (QUOTING ART SPEIGELMAN) PROBABLY HELPED HIM GET A FEW EXTRA YEARS OUT OF HIS. CAREER.Social/Sharing |

This is absolutely fantastic! Any Opper is a treasure, but a full Sunday with topper! Wow! Big congrats and major jealousy!

Yep, two of my all-time favorite characters, Maud and Happy on one giant page... doesn't get much better than that. A super find, Chris.
